While your pet cat may be able to communicate with you in your own private language, he/she may not be able to do so with a complete stranger in the event that something untoward happens to it, like getting lost or waylaid or after meeting with an accident ... Heaven forbid! A pet cat with a tag prominently hanging around its neck is a sure signal to whoever will find your pet cat that it is not a stray; that he/she belongs to someone; that somewhere in the immediate neighbourhood is a loving owner who will be horribly worried when “Kitty” or “Tabby” does not come home tonight.
